两年前，红遍全球的处子专辑《Back to Bedlam》让全世界歌迷认识了詹姆斯·布朗特（James Blunt），可能大多数喜欢欧美流行音乐的歌迷都会听过两嗓子《You're So Beautiful》和《Goodbye My Lover》。可以说，那张《Back to Bedlam》为当时的新人James Blunt在他的音乐之路上打开了一个梦幻般的开局。在不满两年之后（美国发行时间），这位“上尉诗人”就带来了自己的第二张正式专辑《All The Lost Souls》。在Billboard 200专辑榜中上榜首周，本张《All The Lost Souls》空降第七位，上市首周的销量为9万2千张。
在听到新专辑中的首支打榜单曲《1973》之后，细心的歌迷应该可以预感到James Blunt这张新作《All The Lost Souls》与大红大紫的《Back to Bedlam》的不同。又经过了两年多的历练，James Blunt和他的作品都更加成熟了。如果现在对比着听这两张专辑的话，你会发现如今的James Blunt对歌曲整体的编配能力和对不同风格歌曲唱腔的把握能力都要比《Back to Bedlam》时期有一定的进步。
《1973》不仅是第一首打榜单曲，而且是本张专辑的开场曲，没有了《You're So Beautiful》和《Goodbye My Lover》那般的煽情，取而代之的是一种温暖的亲近感。之后的《One Of The Brightest Stars》是标准的詹式曲目，简洁的钢琴、迷人的嗓音。《Same Mistake》有着民谣式的开篇，后面钢琴和主音吉他的逐渐嵌入让这首歌的整体感觉一下丰满了起来。而后的《I Really Want You》有着非常上口的副歌部分，完全可能成为这张专辑中另一首成功的单曲。
对于任何一位处子作大获成功的歌手来说，他的第二张专辑都是很难把握的。虽然这张《All The Lost Souls》中没有像当年的《You're So Beautiful》和《Goodbye My Lover》那样给人第一印象深刻的“金曲”，但客观的说，本张专辑的整体水平还是要比《Back to Bedlam》有所提高。
